Myanmar’s general competition law, the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Law No. 9 enacted in 2015, contains provisions on merger control. The law requires mandatory ex ante notification of covered transactions. The Myanmar Competition Commission was subsequently established on 31 October 2018 to enforce the said law.
As further regulations or issuances are needed to operationalize the merger control provisions of the said law, the notification process is not yet implemented.
